H.O.P.E. Scholarship
Two Scholarships for $500 will be awarded
You are eligible to apply for the H.O.P.E. Scholarship if you are:
- Homeless- The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act defines homeless children, as youth who lack a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence.
- A student with current SRQ on file with the Homeless Education Program
- A high school senior attending an LAUSD school with a 2.5 GPA or higher who will graduate in June 2014 and has been accepted into an accredited college, university or trade school.
To apply a student must:
- Complete the H.O.P.E. Scholarship application with assistance from your College Counselor and attach a recent report card, attendance record, and transcripts
- Write a 250-word essay that best describes your academic achievements, volunteerism and future educational plans
- Attach a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or administrator
- Attach verification of acceptance into an accredited college, university or trade school
Submission Deadline:
The submission deadline is May 5, 2014. The Scholarship committee will select the H.O.P.E. Scholarship recipients and students will be notified by May 12, 2014.
