Resources for students with Disabilites
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) colleges have to provide reasonable accomodations such as more time on tests, more time to finish a degree, qualified readers and interpreters, note takers, modificiation of devices, and so much more. A written request must be provided to the college you attend describing how your disability affects your learning process. To request an accomodation, a doctor must also give you proof of a disability to present to your school.
Community colleges like LAVC provide TRIO Students Support Services (SSS) to help students who are first generation or disabled. If your school does not have a TRIO, every college has an office with resources for students with disabilities.
For more information look onto: http://www.disabilityrightsca.org/pubs/530901.pdf
*Make sure you research your colleges in order to make sure you complete the accomodation process on time.*
