Jackie Robinson Scholarship

Through its Mentoring and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships of up to $28,000/four years to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice.

Eligibility
To be eligible for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must:
·       Be a graduating high school senior
·       Plan to attend an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States
·       Show leadership potential
·       Demonstrate a dedication to community service
·       Present evidence of financial need
·       Be a United States citizen
·       Have a minimum SAT score of 1000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21
·       Not possess a degree from a 2 or 4-year college when applying for the scholarship
Application Components
The required components of the Jackie Robinson Foundation application are:
·       The online application, which includes four essay questions
·       A professional, hi-resolution digital photo (headshots only, in a JPEG format) – you may submit a high school senior graduation photo
·       One letter of recommendation (e.g. a teacher, a mentor, a guidance counselor, an employer)
·       SAT or ACT scores: If you have taken the SAT or ACT more than once, please enter your best score from each test. NOTE: JRF does not consider the writing scores as a part of your examination

AXA Achievement Scholarship

The AXA Achievement Scholarship is awarded to students nationwide – one selected from Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. Each state receives a scholarship award of $10,000. From that pool of 52 winners, ten are national winners and receive an additional $15,000, bringing the national AXA total scholarship awards to $25,000 each.

What does it take to become an AXA Achiever?
Our scholarship winners are known as AXA Achievers. They are ethnically and culturally diverse, but they share these qualities:
·       Ambition and drive
·       Determination to set and reach goals
·       Respect for self, family and community
·       Ability to succeed in college
Who is eligible?
Applicants to the AXA Achievement Scholarship must:
·       Be United States citizens or legal residents living or claiming residency in United States, Washington, D.C. or Puerto Rico
·       Be current high school seniors who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited four-year college or university in the United States for the entire 2016-2017 year
·       Demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement with community, school or work-related activities\
-Because reducing risk is woven into the fabric c of our company, special consideration is given to achievements that empower society to mitigate through education and/or action in areas such as financial, environmental, safety and/or emergency preparedness.
When to apply:
The application period for the 2016 program is now open. Apply now. The application deadline is December 15, 2015, but only the first 10,000 applicants will be accepted we encourage you to apply early. Winners will be announced in Spring 2016. 

Ronald McDonald House Scholarship

Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:
·       Must be a current high school senior who is eligible to attend a two or four year college, university or vocational/technical school.
·       Must be a legal U.S. resident.
·       Must be less than 21 years of age.
·       Must have a minimum 2.7 GPA.
·       Must reside within the geographic boundaries of a participating Chapter.
What are the details of the award?
·       Most local chapters award a minimum of $1,000.
·       The scholarships will be applied to tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for course load. Note: Scholarships may not be applied to room and board or taxation may occur.
·       Institutions must be accredited, nonprofit two or four year college/universities of vocational/technical schools in the United States.
·       A student may transfer from one institution to another and retain the award.
What are the selection criteria?
An independent selection committee will evaluate the applications and select the winners. The committee will consider:
·       Financial Need (if applicable)
·       Community Involvement
·       Essay Content
·       A student may transfer from one institution to another and retain the award.

JFK Scholarship




It takes courage to stand up for your beliefs. Some elected officials risk their careers to do right by their community and country. In Profiles in Courage, John F. Kennedy described eight U.S. elected officials who demonstrated political courage.
Here’s your chance to write a new profile in courage.

QuestBridge is a non-profit organization founded in 1994 that assists outstanding, low income students gain access to top educational opportunities. QuestBridge has helped thousands of students gain admission and generous financial aid to their prestigious partner colleges.
How to Apply:
Answer the free online application at www.questbridge.org and submit it before the deadline.
Requirements:
·       Detailed academic and financial information
·       Essays and short answers
·       Current high school transcript
·       2 letters of recommendation from high school teachers
·       A secondary school report from a high school counselor

Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship

If you’re a high school senior dedicated to learning, leading and performing, you have exactly what it takes to become a Wendy’s High School Heisman.
Criteria:
Eligibility begins with maintaining a GPA of 3.0 (B average) or better. Applicants also need to be proven leaders and role models within their school and community. And applicants must perform in at least of one of the 43 school sponsored sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games or the National Federation of the State High School Association.
How to Apply:
1.              Choose a Reviewer
You will need to ask a school official to review your application. This review must be completed in order for you to qualify for the program. The school official can be an unrelated teacher, counselor, or administrator at your high school. You’ll need to enter your reviewer’s full name and email address on the application, so it’s a good idea to check with him or her before you start.

2.           Start the Application
Click “Apply Now” to access the online application. Before you begin your application you must complete an eligibility quiz. If you meet the academic and athletic eligibility requirements you will be able to register and begin your application to tell us how you learn, perform and lead in your school and community.
To register
, create an account and establish a username and password. You’ll need your username and password through the October 2, 2015 application deadline to log back into your account, work on your application, and review your applications’ status.
You don’t have to complete the entire application at one time. You can save it and return later using your username and password. But do be sure to accurately and completely answer every question before submitting your application. Remember that incorrect or incomplete applications can disqualify you from the program.

3.           Make it Count
Complete your application by 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET on October 2, 2015. Applications cannot be submitted after this time. When you are completely finished with the application, be sure to hit the submit button. Your application status will change from “Incomplete” to “Under Review.”
Before submitting your application, be sure you have entered your reviewer’s email information correctly. After completing your application, follow up with your reviewer. He or she should receive an email from wendys@scholarshipamerica.org no later than 24 hours after you complete your application. Make sure your reviewer adds wendys@scholarshipamerican.org to his/her address book or safe list to ensure that the email is accepted. Your reviewer will need to review and approve your application by 11a.m. PT/2p.m.
